About the Friends

2008 Board of Directors

Pursuant to Friends by-laws, the following slate was presented and approved at the annual meeting, Wednesday, January 10, 2008.

  • Reggie Alexander – Director since 2005, Bronzeback member, Marion County resident, involved with cleanups, youth education and catch-and release programs.
  • Robb Chitwood – Director since 2000, Kingfisher member; independent insurance agent; chair of catch-and-release campaign; lives on White River in Hamilton County; co-chair of membership committee.
  • Mike Fleetwood – Director since 2003, current vice president, volunteer for Kids’ Fishing Invitational, Catch-and Release activities, River School and Adopt-a-River clean-ups; Kingfisher member, hiker, birdwatcher and active environmentalist. Risk management professional and Boone County resident.
  • Louis S. Hensley, Jr. – Director since 2000, Kingfisher member and co-founder of its fundraising efforts; stockbroker, avid angler. Marion and Morgan County resident.
  • Jan Hosier – Director since 2006, active in River School since its inception, and volunteer for clean-ups. Formerly a part of Hoosier Riverwatch and Adopt-A-River state DNR programs, and now works with Earth Force, a national environmental education effort. Lives just off of White River near Broad Ripple.
  • Marilynn L. Hunter – Director since 2002, current president, Kingfisher member, co-chair of membership committee. Lives on White River in Rocky Ripple. Attorney and retired business owner, active in outreach and restoration efforts. Marion County resident.
  • Tom Jeatran – Director since 2004, Kingfisher member, resident of Sandy Point on White River, northside of Marion County, active in cleanups, membership recruitment and development of resources for members.
  • Tom Kelly – Director since 2000, long-time FOWR and Kingfisher member; college instructor and retired bank vice-president, Kids’ Fishing Invitational co-chair; active in clean-ups, River School and fund-raising. Monroe County resident.
  • A. Joe King – Director since 2003, founder of ongoing clean-up and bank restoration projects on Fall Creek in downtown Indianapolis, active in outdoor mentoring experiences for urban youth, Kingfisher member, retired insurance professional and Marion County resident.
  • Neil Myers – New nominee; Kingfisher member, volunteers annually for River School program, assists with training. Works in field of environmental restoration.
  • Michael P. Skehan – Director since 2001, current treasurer and Kingfisher member; certified public accountant; active in fund-raising, membership recruitment and education planning, co-chair of FOWR endowment efforts. Marion County resident.
  • John L. Winters, Jr. – Director since 1998, Kingfisher member; retired scientist, Indiana Department of Environmental Management; Hendricks County resident, leading role in restoration approaches; active in Fishing with P.R.I.D.E., Kids’ Fishing Invitational, educational outreach and ongoing water quality monitoring efforts.
