Shared mission![]() From its source near Winchester to its confluence with the Wabash, Indiana’s White River is truly “a river for all seasons, and a river for all reasons.” Established in 1985, the Friends of the White River is a not-for-profit corporation formed to preserve and protect the White River. The Friends represent those who use the river for recreational purposes, those who live near its banks, and all citizens interested in the preservation of the river as a natural resource. The primary purposes of Friends of the White River are to promote the continued improvement of the quality of the river’s water, and to maintain and restore habitat and wildlife in the river and along its adjacent greenway.
